M.V. Chartwell

Chartwell is a purpose built mono-hull survey/diving vessel, refitted in 2009

The vessel has dimensions of 26.5m by 5.8m and draft of 1.8m providing an efficient and stable working platform.
Equipped with 2 x MAN 800hp main engines for speed, and ZF trolling gearboxes for low down survey speed. The choice of main engines provides the vessel with the ability to cruise comfortably and economically at 15 knots, and the trolling gearboxes allow survey speeds of 1-6kts.
Chartwell was commissioned as a survey launch in 1989 and has been extensively re-fitted during winter 2008/ 2009.

24hr Accommodation

Chartwell provides a 24-hour operational capacity with up to 16 personnel on board. The accommodation is arranged into three twin cabins and three single cabins, one of which is allocated to the client’s representative. There is a fully equipped galley and mess area, shower room and 2 separate WC along with storage space and laundry facilities.

Advanced Equipment

 The on-line survey room is configured with easy access to the working deck, handling equipment with remote control of sonar winches, and CCTV monitoring of all on deck activities. All data recording systems are housed in dedicated 19” racking units which are protected by UPS. Multiple monitors at each work station allow data display to be configured to suit various applications. The main bridge has direct communication with the survey room and survey navigation displays are repeated on the bridge. The rear working  deck area incorporates access to the the dive platform. Other deck equipment includes a 6m hydraulic A-Frame with a SWL of 1 ton, hydraulic capstan, hydraulic side scan sonar winch, hydraulic crane, and purpose built over-the-side mounts for deployment of over side sensors.
Communications equipment carried on board includes satellite broadband, wireless network, and GSM broadband connectivity whilst in range of
mobile phone signal. The vessel is equipped with a comprehensive suite of navigation electronics including, AIS, VHF DSC radios, Navtex, weather
station, NAVNET electronic chart plotters, dual radars, dual frequency echo sounder and advanced autopilot.
Safety equipment carried on board complies with the MCA code of practice for Small Commercial Vessels (SCV Code) and is supplemented by a full complement of immersion suits. Chartwell carries Category 2 certification under the SCV code allowing her to operate up 60 miles from a safe haven on a 24-hour basis.
